Summer Cool-Down Dog Treats

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 ripe banana, mashed
  • 1/2 cup natural peanut butter (make sure it does not contain xylitol)
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/4 cup honey (optional)
  • 1/2 cup blueberries
  • 1/2 cup diced strawberries

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Mold:
  • Get silicone molds or ice cube trays ready for the treats. These will help shape the treats and make them easy to remove once frozen.
  1. Mix the Base:
  • In a medium-sized bowl, combine the plain Greek yogurt, mashed banana, natural peanut butter, unsweetened applesauce, and honey (if using). Mix well until smooth and creamy.
  1. Add the Fruits:
  • Gently fold in the blueberries and diced strawberries. Make sure they are evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
  1. Fill the Molds:
  • Spoon the mixture into the silicone molds or ice cube trays, filling each compartment to the top. Tap the mold or tray gently on the counter to remove any air bubbles and level the mixture.
  1. Freeze the Treats:
  • Place the filled molds or trays in the freezer. Allow the treats to freeze completely, which should take about 4-6 hours or overnight.
  1. Serve:
  • Once the treats are fully frozen, pop them out of the molds or trays. Store the treats in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2 months.

Serving Suggestions:

  • Give your dog a treat on hot summer days to help them cool down.
  • These treats can be used as a reward for good behavior or during training sessions.

Tips:

  • Always monitor your dog while they are enjoying these treats to ensure they don't consume too many at once.
  • If your dog has any dietary restrictions or allergies, adjust the ingredients accordingly.

Enjoy making these refreshing and healthy summer treats for your furry friend!
