Chicken and Vegetable Dog Meal

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup carrots, chopped
  • 1 cup green beans, chopped
  • 1 cup sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1 cup peas (fresh or frozen)
  • 1/2 cup brown rice
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cups water or low-sodium chicken broth

Instructions:

Prepare the Ingredients:

  • Chop the chicken breasts into small, bite-sized pieces.
  • Wash and chop the carrots, green beans, and sweet potatoes.

Cook the Brown Rice:

  • In a medium saucepan, combine 1/2 cup of brown rice with 1 cup of water. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 30-40 minutes until the rice is fully cooked.

Cook the Chicken:

  • In a large pot, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add the chopped chicken pieces to the pot and cook until they are no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.

Add Vegetables:

  • Add the carrots, green beans, sweet potatoes, and peas to the pot with the chicken.
  • Pour in 3 cups of water or low-sodium chicken broth.

Simmer:

  • Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low.
  • Cover the pot and let it simmer for about 20-25 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender.

Combine with Rice:

  • Once the vegetables are tender, add the cooked brown rice to the pot.
  • Stir well to combine all the ingredients.

Cool and Serve:

  • Allow the meal to cool to room temperature before serving it to your dog.
  • You can store any leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze portions for later use.

Feeding Guidelines:

This recipe provides a balanced meal with protein from the chicken, healthy carbohydrates from the brown rice, and essential vitamins and minerals from the vegetables.
